On Friday 29 January 2016, the Melbourne Grammar School Sculpture Walk and its first installation were officially opened at a function that was attended by many of the School’s arts supporters.
The first sculpture, titled Cover Up No. 18, is by internationally acclaimed artist, Professor Callum Morton (OM 1982). This new work evolves from the artist’s draped series.
The unveiling of the sculpture took place in light rain but this did not dampen the enthusiasm of those present. There were short speeches by the Headmaster, Callum Morton, Kate Alstergren (FOG President 2011), and the 2016 Art Captains. The blessing of the work by The Reverend Hans Christiansen brought proceedings to a close.
The Sculpture Walk paves the way for several feature sculptures to be installed across the Melbourne Grammar grounds.
