Melbourne Grammar is a workplace where professionalism and commitment to excellence are valued in every role. We offer a welcoming learning community connected by a shared set of values.
A culture of excellence
-
Shared values of excellence and collegiality. We attract and retain people with a rigorous, collaborative approach to education.
-
Pride in our work. We hold high expectations for our staff and provide programmes, facilities and resources that support them to excel.
-
A considered, intentional approach. We carefully and thoughtfully build towards specific educational goals in our curriculum, co-curricular activities and learning environments.
Opportunities to build and share knowledge
Melbourne Grammar School staff are encouraged to continue their professional learning through a generous Professional Development programme which includes:
-
a healthy, active and collegial approach to sharing wisdom, experience and knowledge across the School
-
on-campus access to experts in teaching and learning strategies, psychologists and other health care professionals, and other relevant areas
-
explicit training for new and emerging School leaders
-
support for participation in external professional development opportunities, such as conferences and training sessions, both locally and internationally
-
further opportunities to upgrade teaching and other professional skills
-
all new teaching staff are supported by a mentor, to assist them in their transition to the School, and as they work towards their initial professional goals.
Support for staff health
-
Health and wellbeing. Staff have access to our chaplaincy team and chapels, and confidential counselling and psychologists through our Employee Assistance Programme.
-
Staff common rooms are available on each campus — a space where staff can relax, reflect and collaborate.
-
Staff-led wellness initiatives, such as meditation and walking groups operate across each campus.
-
Respectful schedules. We want staff to be able to focus on their core work. Our meeting culture prioritises efficiency and we try to limit unnecessary engagement in non-core activities.
Convenient location
-
Public transport to the ‘front door’. Our Senior School and Wadhurst campuses are located close to the heart of Melbourne CBD along St Kilda Road. They are easily accessible by public transport with multiple trams stopping at the front of the school. The Metro Tunnel will soon deliver a train station at the front of our St Kilda Road campuses.
-
Grimwade House is situated in Caulfield, a short drive from the St Kilda Road campuses and is also on the same tramline, making it easy for staff to commute between the campuses should that be necessary.
-
Access to the city. It’s a very quick tram ride into the CBD from our St Kilda Road campus which neighbours the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Tan running track.
-
On-site parking is available at each of our locations, subject to availability.
-
Accommodation in the boarding precinct. All boarding staff and their families live within or near the boarding precinct, where we provide comfortable accommodation and three meals a day while boarders are in residence.
