Our First Nations Program includes initiatives that increase understanding and engagement between the Melbourne Grammar School community and First Nations Australians. Central to this program is our desire to create a culturally safe space for First Nations students.
The Melbourne Grammar School Indigenous Strategy, developed in 2019 by the First Nations Program Steering Committee, explains the aims of the Program, namely that our First Nations students experience a sense of belonging at the School, and all students value and respect First Nations culture.
We are also interested in contributing to a national conversation between First Nations and non-First Nations Australians through activities including Reconciliation Week, participation in the Garma Festival in North East Arnhem Land, and the inclusion of First Nations emblems and artwork across our campuses.
First Nations bursaries are also available to support the education of First Nations students at the School.
