Outside the classroom

At Grimwade House, we believe learning experiences should build academic skills alongside social awareness, independence, and confidence. Offering a range of educational experiences outside the classroom is key to our approach.

As students progress from Junior to Upper Primary, we introduce a broader understanding of the world beyond our campus. Activities outside the classroom include:

Outdoor education

Our carefully designed Prep to Year 6 outdoor education program builds towards leadership, collaboration and independence. It fosters confidence, teamwork, and environmental stewardship through tailored, age-appropriate challenges. Specialist educators guide students from Prep to Year 6, culminating in immersive experiences that build resilience, independence, and lasting connections.

Sport

A full range of indoor and outdoor sporting opportunities are available at Gimwade House, including inter-House and inter-school competitions using our age-specific facilities.

Grimwade House’s sport and health curriculum builds physical skills, confidence, and teamwork through age-appropriate activities. Emphasizing fun, participation, and cooperation, the program combines physical education, health lessons, and competitive sport to foster resilience, collaboration, and lifelong well-being.

Community engagement, service and sustainability

We gradually expand students’ understanding of the communities around them, instilling a sense of leadership through service.

Before and after school care

Before and after school care is available in our purpose-built on-campus space where students play, relax, catch up on homework and build new friendships with their peers under staff supervision.

We also have an inclusive after school activity based program - Grimwade Club - that offers a broad-ranging set of recreational activities as well as those that extend academic learning. These may include, fopr example, swimming, skateboarding and coding.
