When they leave Year 6, Grimwade House students have the knowledge and skills they need to begin their secondary education with confidence.
Melbourne Grammar School students consistently achieve exceptional VCE outcomes and go on to study at leading national and international universities. See our recent results here.
Support for girls
Although girls leave Melbourne Grammar School at the end of Year 6, they remain part of our community for the rest of their lives.
Girls are invited to return to Grimwade House during their time at secondary school. They may attend or assist with the Year 6 musical, provide sports coaching for our primary school students, or attend the annual breakfast we host for all Year 12 students who attended Grimwade House.
Beyond this, they are warmly welcomed into the alumni (Old Melburnians) community with equal standing to all students who attended Melbourne Grammar School.
Support for boys
Grimwade House boys receive automatic entry into Wadhurst, Melbourne Grammar’s dedicated middle school for Years 7 and 8, and subsequently progress to Year 12.
Wadhurst typically welcomes students drawn from over 50 primary schools, with around 40% coming from Grimwade House. All Year 7 students participate in a dedicated transition program to develop a sense of community in their new learning environment when they are in Year 7, and throughout Year 7.
Like their female counterparts, Grimwade House boys are invited back to the Grimwade campus from time to time, including the Year 12 breakfast.
Alumni connections
After Year 12, all Old Melburnian men and women can become involved in alumni events and program. Our alumni network strives to ensure all past Grimwade House students continue their connection with the school through formal and informal events. “It is a powerful thing to return to the School and see what has changed and how much remains the same since your time as a student.
By becoming involved with the School again, however long it has been, you will find that the connection and sense of belonging is still present. Just as there is no stereotypical Old Melburnian, there is no one way to maintain a connection with the School or each other.
No matter how long it has been since you left the School, or where you are in the world, the gates are always open.” - Martin Scott KC (OM 1980), President, Old Melburnians Council Read more.
