Our sporting grounds and facilities have been carefully planned to match the developmental needs and abilities of students at each campus. Students use these facilities for everything from a casual game of downball to preparing for a future professional career in AFL.
Edwin Flack Park
Our Port Melbourne sports ground includes nine tennis courts, a full-sized AFL/cricket ground, hockey field and soccer ground. The grounds and facilities are maintained to the highest standard with visiting AFL clubs often choosing to train at the Park. All students use this space for games and training.
The Park is named for the School’s first Olympian and Australia’s first gold medal winner, who attended the first Games of the modern era in 1896 at Athens, Greece.
Cordner Physical Education Centre
Grimwade House students enjoy high quality sporting facilities which have been designed specifically for them. The Cordner Physical Education Centre is home to a full sized gymnasium and a 25-metre swimming pool.
At 0.9 metres deep, the pool is not as deep as a regular school pool. We have designed it to be shallow enough to reach just the chin of the shortest Prep student, but deep enough to allow for the arm span of the tallest Year 6 student.
This Centre is located next to tennis courts and the large, leafy School oval.
Strickland Physical Education Centre
This facility for Wadhurst and Senior School students includes a gymnasium with facilities for volleyball, basketball, badminton and table tennis; four tennis courts; a weight training room and an indoor heated swimming pool.
Sporting ovals
Each campus has its own sporting oval, for use by the students of that campus. These well-utilised spaces are used for casual play during lunchtime and recess, for physical education classes and for sport training before and after school. Each have nearby cricket nets and are easily transformed into cricket grounds, as needs be.
The Senior School has an additional oval for competitive sporting activities.
