Melbourne Grammar School aims to provide an open and friendly environment where students feel safe and happy and can thrive.
The School condemns all forms of abusive and predatory behaviours. In particular, the School has zero tolerance for child abuse and has measures in place to protect children from abuse, to support children at risk, and to respond to incidents or allegations of child abuse.
We encourage people to report any known or suspected instance of sexual abuse to the Police, whether it be at home, school or in the wider community.
Melbourne Grammar School will always support any individual who wishes to report an incident of abuse or mistreatment.
Where allegations arise of any sexual misconduct or any other abuse of a past or current student at Melbourne Grammar School, whilst respecting the confidentiality of any person who comes forward, the School will fulfil its mandatory reporting responsibilities and will fully cooperate with all police inquiries.
Our support will also include a pastoral response, offering care, respect, and provision of appropriate counselling to suit the needs of the person involved.
Melbourne Grammar School has very clear and strong student protection measures in place, such as child protection and mandatory reporting policies, as well as stringent standards in the selection, training and management of all staff. All staff must undertake regular police checks and maintain clean police check records. We regularly review our training, policies and procedures to ensure we provide the highest standards in student health, welfare and safety.
