Celebrating academic excellence

Seven current and former Melbourne Grammar School students have received a Premier’s VCE Award for their exceptional performance in VCE Unit 3|4 studies in 2023.

Teddy Stewart (OM 2023) was honoured as a Top All-Round VCE High Achiever. This prestigious award is given to students who achieved study scores of 46 or higher (out of 50) in at least five VCE subjects during the year. Out of approximately 58,000 students who completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) in 2023, only 23 received this recognition.

A total of 300 Victoria students received Study Awards, based on their individual graded assessment scores in the respective subject.

“These students deserve our admiration,” says Mr Philip Grutzner, Headmaster. “While underlying talent is necessary to excel in any subject, outstanding results also are also underpinned by sheer hard work and dedication. Their accomplishments also serve as a testament to the focus on excellence cultivated at Melbourne Grammar School.”

It is also pleasing to see the breadth of subjects in which the students succeeded,” he says. “This not only reflects the range of interests of our students, but also the strength of our teachers across all disciplines.”

Further, Mr Grutzner highlighted that two award recipients, Albert Chen and William George, began their education at Melbourne Grammar School in Prep, demonstrating the solid educational foundation provided throughout each students’ journey at Melbourne Grammar.
