We are pleased to be joined by Mr Humphrey Bower (OM1980).
Drawing on his remarkable career as an award-winning actor, director, writer, educator and one of Australia’s most celebrated audiobook narrators, Humphrey will reflect on the enduring power of storytelling to shape identity, foster empathy and strengthen human connection. In a particularly fitting presentation, during what is the 50th year of the Sir Kingsley Norris Oration at Melbourne Grammar School, Humphrey, a past winner from 1978, will explore the formative influence that public speaking, literature and performance can have on a young person’s life. Tracing a journey from the stage of Memorial Hall to a distinguished career spanning theatre, television, radio, directing, teaching at WAAPA and narrating more than 150 audiobooks; he will share how the skills nurtured at Melbourne Grammar School, became the foundation of a life in the arts.
Audiences can expect an engaging and insightful presentation that weaves together personal reflections, professional experiences and the timeless value of storytelling in helping us understand ourselves, connect with others and build thoughtful, resilient communities.
