Annual scholarship application process

Application
November, 14 months prior to entry – January the year before entry
We open entrance scholarship applications for the intake 14 months ahead (i.e. scholarships advertised in November 2022 are for boys entering Year 7 and Year 9 in 2024).
Applications are open from November to the following January, through the School website. Please note, a non-refundable fee of $110 is payable to sit the exam.

Testing and shortlisting
February the year before entry
Applicants sit a scholarship examination at Melbourne Grammar School. Boys entering Year 7 sit in Year 6; boys entering Year 9 sit in Year 8.
Depending on the scholarship, we may also ask for supporting documents or other information.
Applicants are then shortlisted.

Interview and offer
February/March, the year before entry
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview with the Headmaster. Successful applicants are notified very soon after the interview.

Acceptance of offer
One week after offer
To secure a scholarship, families must submit formal enrolment documentation and pay an enrolment fee within one week after the offer has been made.
