Melbourne Grammar School has two Senior School Boarding Houses – Perry and School – which are home to more than one hundred boys in Years 9 to 12 from around Victoria, Australia and abroad.
The Houses have a support staff of seventeen, including experienced Heads of House who live on-site with their families, and resident assistants. These staff members provide care, encouragement, guidance, help with study and friendly company.
Boys in Years 9 and 10 share double rooms, while students in Years 11 and 12 have single rooms, all equipped with their own desks. Boarders walk to the School dining hall to eat meals together, but their House kitchenettes have all the food and equipment – fridges, microwaves, toasters, sandwich makers, jugs – to make drinks and snacks.
Boarding life is busy during term time. Classes, study, sport, music, art, drama, excursions and camps take up a lot of time. As well, boarders love to watch TV or DVDs together in their common rooms, which open to a central courtyard. Here they can relax with newspapers or books or play table tennis and pool.
