At Melbourne Grammar School we work hard to maintain a caring environment where students and staff feel safe and valued, and where diversity, mutual understanding and respect are sought and celebrated.
Throughout the School, pastoral care is tailored and responsive to the ages and needs of individual students. A chaplain, counsellor and Learning Strategies staff at each campus help make sure every student feels supported, understood and secure, and a registered psychologist is available to consult with students, parents and staff should the need arise.
At Grimwade House, our coeducational primary school, girls and boys are cared for by experienced classroom teachers and specialist staff, who work to nurture social and emotional wellbeing.
At both Wadhurst and Senior School, the primary pastoral care communities are created within the House system. Heads of House and House Tutors act as mentors for the boys, getting to know students and their families as they closely monitor academic, social and emotional progress. The House system encourages interaction between the year levels, with senior students acting as role models and helping staff organise daily activities.
While proud of our Anglican tradition and following a Christian philosophy, Melbourne Grammar School is privileged to have students and staff from various faiths and cultures, allowing all students to examine religious, moral and ethical issues in an environment of tolerance and respect.
