Melbourne Grammar School is centrally located in South Yarra, just minutes from the city and Melbourne icons such as Federation Square and Flinders Street Station.
Since its foundation, Melbourne Grammar School has been home to a thriving boarding community. Our boarders are welcomed into a caring and nurturing environment in which every individual is encouraged to fulfil his potential. To help them achieve academic success, boarders have access to resident staff each evening to assist with homework. Equally important is our commitment to pastoral care, which helps our boarders to forge close relationships with their peers, their residential assistants and their Heads of House.
For more information about boarding at the School, please visit Life in the Boarding House.
Boarding is available to students from Year 7 to Year 12. The main boarding intakes are at Year 7 (Wadhurst) and Year 9 (Senior School) but, depending on current enrolments, boarding opportunities may be available at other year levels.
To apply for entry, families should download an application form from the School website, complete it and return it to the Admissions Department along with your son’s latest school reports. A number of boarding scholarships are available.
Eighteen months before commencement (for Year 7 entry), students will be invited to attend an entrance examination. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview with the Headmaster.
Helping our boarders settle in to life at Melbourne Grammar School is an important part of their educational journey. A comprehensive programme of orientation activities takes place early each year.
