Appointed as Head of Senior School and Deputy Headmaster in 2014, Nick Evans was born in the United States and educated in Melbourne. Maintaining dual citizenship and an irrational passion for the Boston Red Sox, Nick gained a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of Melbourne before deciding on a career in teaching and completing a Diploma of Education at La Trobe University.
Nick started his teaching career at Wesley College as a graduate teacher of history and politics and stayed twenty years, working up to the position of Head of Senior School and completing a Masters of Education at the University of Melbourne.
While a coach of athletics and cricket, Nick was most well known at Wesley College for directing plays and musicals, being involved with fifteen major productions in his time there. We are privileged that Nick now brings his enthusiasm and motivation to Melbourne Grammar School.
A message from the Head
One of the great strengths of Senior School is the breadth and balance of our rich curricular and co-curricular programmes. Every one of our young men has the opportunity to explore his unique talents, skills and leadership potential.
We are very proud of the students’ academic performance. Their success at VCE level is a credit to their dedication and commitment and a reflection of the excellent teaching provided by the staff. Of equal importance is our charter of engaging students in a vibrant and creative learning community where they have the freedom to discover and develop their talents and interests – whether they be acting in a play, training with the hockey team or leading a community service project. The range of co-curricular activities is extensive.
We hope our young graduates leave us with a confidence and a determination to make a difference in this rapidly changing world.
