Royce Helm Head of Grimwade House

Royce Helm

 

Mr Royce Helm was appointed to the position of Head of Grimwade House at Melbourne Grammar School from the start of Term 2 2016 . Previously Mr Helm was the Headmaster of Southwell School, located in Hamilton in New Zealand, and he was in this role for thirteen years.  Southwell School caters for students from Prep to 8, and is the largest coeducational, independent primary and boarding school in New Zealand.  Prior to his role at Southwell, Royce was the Headmaster of St George’s School in Wanganui in New Zealand. He has also held the positions of Deputy Headmaster and Head of Middle School at St Kentigern School in Auckland. Royce holds a Master of Education (Administration) from the University of Auckland and a Bachelor of Education from Massey University.

Mr Helm has a love of sports and his co-curricular record includes coaching basketball and softball, and playing rugby and volleyball competitively.   Royce is a highly experienced, strategic leader in education,  with an impressive track record of improving student and staff performance. Possessing a highly collaborative leadership style, he works closely with his staff to identify needs and develop solutions.  He is highly regarded in education in New Zealand and is well respected throughout the independent school community, demonstrating a deep understanding of the expectations of parents and students in a school such as Grimwade House.
