The first stained glass window in the Chapel was ‘The Light of the World’. It was placed in the north transept in 1893.
The window highlights the words of the Gospel of St John, 8:12: ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.’ It depicts Christ dressed in a red cloak holding a lamp. His right hand is raised in blessing.
In 1910 the new stone baptismal font was arranged so that the window’s red light would fall on the heads of those being baptized.
